As much we would like our blogs to be a space where we freely type down our thoughts, our emotions, our struggles, our frustrations, our joys, I guess reality is far from that. Because whether you like it or not, people are reading your space. When people read, it always impacts them in some way, some how. That's a blogger's biggest reservation I guess.
When you realise that this space is no longer private and some random person from some random country, or some random church/school person is reading your blog, you hold back. You think so hard before publishing the post- checking your grammatical mistakes, alignments, checking if it is even coherent/a likable post (Esther LIKES this) and most of all, if it offends or stumbles anyone.
I've met people who can't care less about what people think. They vomit every single nasty/unpleasant thing out on their blogs for the whole to read. These people are quite peculiar. When you ask them if they're okay, then they'll go, "how come you know I'm not okay!?" Your blog duh. Talk about responsibilities, huh.
But sometimes I do admire them. I mean, if there's one thing I would applaud them for is their honesty and for their courage to admit they're not okay. Please don't hear me wrongly, (see I'm re-emphasizing my earlier point) I'm not saying that we should blast our blogs with our deepest secrets or lash out vulgarities from time to time, but I just wonder if the fear of public opinion inhibits us from being people who are real. I mean, a perpetually happy blogger who's dying inside is obviously a big fat liar. Haha.
I guess it's alright to have our opinions, have our ups and downs, imperfections. I think it's also alright to pen these down. But I do think it's important to make wise decisions on what to disclose and what not to. Because, yea la, like it or not, someone is reading this now. Haha. And you can't deny that everything you read affects you in some way? It's just like listening to different genres of music. It affects my moods so much :|
I can't count the number of times people have come up to me to talk to me about my blog. Some, asking me to remove certain posts, some affirming me for some of my posts. Haha. But I guess the joys of a blogger shouldn't be in how many comments one accumulates or how big a commotion it brings about. I mean, who said the joy of writing is in getting the approval of others. Haha. I guess what matters at the end of the day is that it fufils the purpose it set out to fufil- to put a smile on someone's face, to let someone know what they're not alone in their temptations/failures, to make yourself feel better, to unwind, to rant, to encourage, to remind yourself/someone else about His goodness etc.
I guess as much as bloggers work towards being more responsibly fun and real bloggers, readers have a responsibility to guard their hearts on what they're reading too. I mean if you know you're gonna be so affected, then don't read la.
How did I get here anw? Haha. Random thoughts.... or not quite. (Considering this post is so long.) Haha.
